We deliver developments that reflect the values of the Church and the needs of the people it serves

Our mission is to turn underused or redundant church land and buildings into purposeful developments that support the Church’s wider mission, creating places that serve local communities.

Meet our team

At the CDA, we do development differently. Our cradle-to-grave approach ensures that every project is conceived, delivered, and stewarded with purpose. Our developments are designed to serve communities for generations.

We follow a dedicated 5 S value design policy, reflecting the values of the Church of England’s Coming Home report: sustainable, safe, stable, sociable, and satisfying. We ensure that every home and community space we create reflects these core principles in both form and function. To guarantee quality and peace of mind, all our homes come with a 10-year NHBC warranty, meeting rigorous construction standards.

Our development model is flexible, and mission led. We acquire land from the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) once planning permission is secured, and fund construction through DBF loans. This enables us to pursue projects with strong social and environmental value.

We work with local builders to reduce carbon impact and support regional economies. Unlike traditional developers, all profits are reinvested into improving housing quality and advancing the Church’s wider mission.

Governance is robust and transparent. The CDA is overseen by a non-executive board of diocesan leaders and independent experts, ensuring alignment with the Coming Home values and high standards of delivery. Day-to-day operations are led by our CEO and supported by a Chartered Surveyor and a Business Manager, bringing professional rigour to every stage of the process.
